Our beloved Mr. Kitty was a feral cat we domesticated. He was just about the best cat anyone could want. When we first moved into our house 9 years ago the crawl space underneath didn't have screens on all the ventilation windows and a feral mommy cat and young cats sometimes lived under the house when it was raining. We screened in all the ventilation windows so the cats wouldn't go under there and slowly won the trust of sweet Mr. Kitty, and he would come and sleep inside and go out during the day. He was always sweet and gentle. We were so sad when he passed away.
We knew he had siblings and very rarely his sister would pop by for a visit. She is still very feral. I think she lives in our next door neighbor's yard or house. Our next door neighbor and her house are a story in themselves. Very sad situation.
In any event, we were upstairs getting dressed and Christian came up and said he had to show me something downstairs. Well wasn't I surprised to see he saw Mr. Kitty's sister by our back door. Poor thing is so bedraggled looking and skinny. Luckily I keep some cans of cat food around for just such an occasion. Also funny how our big dog Missy didn't scare her much although we did keep her inside.
Christian was so sweet and gentle and was very respectful of her being afraid and didn't approach her or frighten her. I told him about why she was afraid, how she was on her own and had to take care of herself and how we had to earn her trust. He has grand plans of making her our cat. I do hope she comes back. I need to check on our neighbor as well and see how she is doing.
